I actually started planning this piece about 6 months ago- that deep red of the garnet, and the radial cut of the black onyx feeling very studded- it just felt like a perfect fit.
I have this piece photographed on the 1.1mm thickness sterling chain option, but it would work well with the thinner .85mm one as well.
